«At the Closerie des Lilas I sat in a corner with the afternoon light coming in over my shoulder and wrote in my notebook. The waiter brought me a café crème.»

«It's all the same urge, the same expression, the same message. Some day, it might come out graphically, another day, it'll come out in words.»

Stopp verden, jeg vil av!

Zach Condon i Pitchfork-intervju:

Pitchfork: So you dropped out of school and went to Europe.
Zach Condon: I dropped out of high school and I tried to go to community college for a little while. I can’t be a student. I always hated that lifestyle. I’d been working in this old frame shop where we’d guild these picture frames. I took the money and ran off to Europe.

(…)

I dropped out of high school, and then I dropped out of a community college in Santa Fe, and then I dropped out of a community college in Albuquerque, and then I dropped out of UNM in Albuquerque.

The Penalty

Like an ancient day and I’m on trial
Let them seize the way, this once was an island
And I could not stay for I believed them
Left for the lights always in season

Impassable night in a crowd of homesick
Fully grown children, you’ll leave the lights
Your family may not wait, Sir, keep on believing
Our parents rue the day, they find us kneeling
Let them think what they may, for they’ve good reason
Left for the lights always in season

The Science Of Sleep

Hi, and welcome back to another episode of “Télévision Educative”. Tonight, I’ll show you how dreams are prepared. People think it’s a very simple and easy process but it’s a bit more complicated than that. As you can see, a very delicate combination of complex ingredients is the key. First, we put in some random thoughts. And then, we add a little bit of reminiscences of the day… mixed with some memories from the past. [adds two bunchs of pasta] That’s for two people. Love, friendships, relationships… and all those “ships”, together with songs you heard during the day, things you saw, and also, uh… personal… Okay, I think it’s one.

«The Science Of Sleep» er en fabelaktig fransk film fra 2004 av den eminente Michel Gondry, samme fyr som står bak «Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind». Dette er bare en umiddelbar huskelapp til dere alle om at dette er et verk fra en underfundig verden, vel verdt å få med seg! Lengre refleksjon kommer kanskje ved en senere anledning.

Stéphanie: Why me?
Stephane: [Stephane covering his face with the pillow] Because everyone else is boring. And because your different.

«It could be the 60’s…»

I’m home from Berlin, but if I could choose, I’d rather like to stay. I’ve never been so sad leaving a place, and I’ve never felt so happy, like I did in Berlin. Unconsciously I didn’t eat meat all week. I almost didn’t sleep, and I almost didn’t shop. But the personal amound I got from meeting all this incredible people, is more than I could ever imagine.
